If you have it in your heart, please help my friend

I went to school with this girl and now she needs help.  She was diagnosed with MS before marrying, then her husband was diagnosed with cancer and then she was also diagnosed with cancer when pregnant.  She delivered a pre-term but healthy baby girl this past month but the medical bills are through the roof.  Please help however you can.  If you are a local and would like to donate goods, a gift basket or food for the event please contact me.

The juxtaposition of the self

Even though I’ve been treated for my depression for a few years now, it always amazes me to see what happens when the meds stop working for a day or two.  Most people just don’t understand what it’s like to live with this disease; how when you’re in the middle of an episode you can be happy and sad at the same time, high and low, excited and numb.  It throws you for a loop and you don’t even know how to understand yourself.  It’s like being on the rim of a giant whirlpool thinking you’re falling in but just missing falling into the abyss.  You feel like just giving up, letting go, being swept away by this shadow monster that’s bigger than you but when you have something else out there (in my case my kids and boyfriend) the sheer strength of the will to keep holding on is superhuman.

Everytime this happens, I just can’t wait for the clouds to leave and for the sun to shine through again…..because thankfully I KNOW that the sun will come out again.  Sometimes we forget how bad it truly was before treatment and these little lapses although frightening and uncomfortable reminds me of how lucky I am to have gotten help.

If you think you may be fighting depression, don’t be afraid to ask for help….it’s not a sign of weakness but rather an unmistakable sign of your strength.  If you want to reach out to me, feel free….I’ll be there for you.

I wouldn’t care if I lived in a studio if it had a view like THIS!

As disheartening as it is to say this for me, I had one of these moments in my life.  It’s hard for a perfectionist to stop trying.

I think you need to find someone with a uterus for that to happen :)
